The Architecture atelier SLA developed research on construction with raw earth and undertakes projects and experiments in the area of ecological architecture. Cork therefore enters as a material that could be incorporated with earth in ‘dry construction’ methods. A collection network was created for “natural imperishable materials”.
The implementation of the CSR system brought about the creation of a Cork Stopper Collection Network: "we establish contact by telephone with the collection points, we have a voluntary network in Portugal". The costs are taken onboard by SLA.
The network covers over 70 collection points distributed in the municipalities of Lisbon, Oeiras, Sintra, Vila Franca de Xira, Alvito, Ferreira do Alentejo, Beja, Mértola, Sines, Odemira and Lagos, at private and public establishments such as restaurants and schools.
